FAQ

Q How long does the medical take?

A About an hour. You will be finished no later than 75 minutes after your arrival time.

Q Will I be seen on time?

A Yes. We run a well scheduled appointment system and you will be seen at your allocated time. Please do not come more than ten minutes early, if you think you will arrive late please telephone as you will not be seen if you arrive more than 15 minutes after your appointment time.

Q Is the certificate issued on the day?

A Yes unless there are problems with the medical such as needing new glasses.

Q Help! I can't make the appointment.

A Please telephone to let us know ASAP. A charge may be made for cancellation on the day of the medical or if you are too late to attend.

Q I had problems during a previous medical with another examiner. Can you obtain their records?

A Sometimes. It's best to let us know at the time of booking so we can make enquiries first.

Q I may need a copy of the medical records you hold for a life assurance or a DVLA medical. Can I have these?

A Yes of course.

Q Are there car parking facilities?

A Yes. Free street parking. If you come by bicycle there is no need to bring a lock - the bike can come in with you.

Q Public transport?

A Bus routes 358, 356 and 194. Ask for "Abbot's Way". Tramlink and trains from Charing Cross or London Bridge go to Elmers End station, a 15 minute walk.

Q What is your Chaperone policy.

A The CAA strongly advise all AME's to have a written Chaperone policy. If you would like to have someone with you during the medical please let us know at the time of booking. It's fine to bring a friend or relative.
